Big Returns: Bears' Hester Getting Endorsement Opportunities
Published November 26, 2007
Bears KR/WR Devin Hester, who returned a kickoff and a punt for TDs in his team's 37-34 OT win against the Broncos yesterday, “continues to enjoy a meteoric celebrity rise,” according to Vaughn McClure of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Hester: “I want to get as many opportunities as I can for more exposure. I want to get myself out there to the public.” Hester will appear in a Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercial with his mother, Juanita Brown, along with several other NFL players. He is also in a spot for NFL Network and has filmed an ad for Samsung that will debut this winter. Hester said, “A lot of advertising deals have been thrown my way, but I’ve had to turn them down.” Hester’s agent, Lammi Sports Management President Brian Lammi, said that a “'Devin Hester speed camp' is in the works.” Lammi added that Under Armour, Nike and Reebok have all “inquired about Hester’s availability,” and while Nike and Reebok’s inquiries “point to … a shoe deal, … nothing has materialized.” Lammi said, “We’ve probably turned down at least 25 deals in the last four or five months. Not all of those are national endorsements. We’re also talking about making appearances and things of that nature” (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/25).
