Let It Snow: Bears Long For Winter In New Reebok Spot
Published November 14, 2007
A new Reebok ad, via McGarryBowen, N.Y., promotes Reebok's new Bears-branded "Zero Degrees" winter apparel and footwear, according to Lewis Lazare of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. The spot, which features Bears QB Rex Grossman, CB Nathan Vasher, TE Desmond Clark, LB Brendon Ayanbadejo and WR Muhsin Muhammad, was shot last summer. Lazare grades the spot a "B" and writes it "comes off as a remarkably delicate fantasy. It's all about the aforementioned Bears appearing to be wishing for a huge snowfall while the relatively balmy weather refuses to cooperate." Grossman and Clark "tool around in a car outfitted with snow chains on ice-free streets," while Ayanbadejo "kneels beside his snowblower and gazes up longingly at the snow-free sky." Muhammad pulls a snow globe from his locker, and in the final image, Vasher stands on the football field in a "Zero Degrees" jacket and cap "looking up into the heavens" as a snowflake falls onto his tongue. The ad is "executed with a high degree of polish, along with plenty of mood and atmosphere" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 11/14). To view the ad, visit SportsBusinessDaily.com.
