Fashion Forward: Beckham Agrees To Endorse Armani
Published November 14, 2007
Galaxy MF David Beckham has agreed to a three-year clothing endorsement deal with Giorgio Armani worth about US$41.43M, according to James Masters of the London TELEGRAPH. Beckham will front Armani’s “Emporio SS08” underwear campaign, set to begin in January. A source said of the deal, “The personal relationship was definitely instrumental to this deal. David and Giorgio get on very well so it was very much Giorgio’s personal choice. But Armani also see this as a sound business decision.” Masters notes Beckham’s earnings from sponsorships have fallen for the second year running after “a series of injuries, the expiration of deals with Gillette and Vodafone and his move away from mainstream” soccer. Beckham still has deals with adidas, Pepsi, Motorola and perfume maker Coty (London TELEGRAPH, 11/14).
