Bush Parts Ways With Ornstein Despite Successful Relationship
Published November 8, 2007
Saints RB Reggie Bush has fired his marketing agent, Mike Ornstein, who made him arguably the most marketed NFL rookie in history last year, with a number of endorsement deals with major corporations, including Subway, Hummer, PepsiCo, adidas and Visa. Bush had a close, but volatile, relationship with Ornstein, and had fired him only to re-hire him at least once before. But sources said that this break is permanent. In a statement released to SportsBusiness Daily/ SportsBusiness Journal, Ornstein said, “Reggie Bush is a phenomenal athlete and a wonderful person. I am proud of our achievements together. We have secured a phenomenal number of major endorsements that are some of the largest in NFL history. These have benefited not only Reggie, but also the very deserving charities and organizations that he supports in San Diego and New Orleans. It’s time for both of us to move on and I wish him all the best.” Ornstein also negotiated deals on behalf of Bush with EA Sports, Gameloft, GoldToe socks, GTSM Memoribilia, Schutt Sports and Halcyon Jets.
