Beckham Boom: MLS Ratings Increase During Second Half
Published October 25, 2007
MLS ratings on ESPN2 for the '07 regular season were even with last year, but HHs saw a 16.2% increase. ESPN2 also had four of their top ten most-viewed MLS regular-season games ever this season, with the top spot belonging to an August 23 Galaxy-Chivas USA match, which earned a 0.6 coverage area rating and 532,000 HHs. David Beckham's first official MLS match as a member of the Galaxy was on August 5 against Toronto FC, a game in which he did not play, and ESPN2 saw a 44.6% spike in HHs for ten Thursday night telecasts after that. Beckham played in three ESPN2 games, which drew a 0.5 for Galaxy-DC United on August 9, a 0.6 for Galaxy-Chivas USA on August 23 and a 0.3 for Galaxy-Red Bulls on September 18. With the MLS playoffs set to begin tonight on ESPN2, the following presents MLS regular-season ratings and HHs for the '07 regular-season on ESPN2 (THE DAILY).
