A report issued Friday by the city of Santa Clara indicated that the Santa Clara City Council, not the 49ers, would oversee construction of an $854M stadium, and a city-run stadium authority would issue $185M in bonds to help build it. Santa Clara residents would own the stadium, and the authority would “operate the stadium, schedule non-NFL events and rent the venue to the 49ers.” The report did not reveal “who pays the bills if stadium revenues fall short” (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 10/20)....A “largely barren” concrete plaza at the Bradley Center is being converted into a valet-parking drop-off for luxury suite holders. Arena spokesperson Evan Zeppos said that the $70,000 project is a way to “add amenities to the facility and make it more viable financially” (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 10/20)....MLB Giants fan Dante Suguitan is facing a possible 50 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to five counts of making false bomb threats using a telephone. Suguitan called in “several bomb threats” to Turner Field during Giants-Braves games in ’05. He told authorities he wanted to “intimidate players and affect the outcome” of the series (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 10/20)....St. John's Univ. this season will seat men’s basketball season-ticket holders “partly on the basis of their donations to the school” (N.Y. POST, 10/22).
