EA Sports To Introduce Spanish-Language Madden Game
Published October 17, 2007
EA Sports is producing a Spanish-language version of its "Madden" videogame series, tagged “Madden NFL 08 En Espanol,” evidence of the “growing popularity of the NFL among Spanish speakers as well as a sign of the company’s desire to tap into new customers,” according to Etan Horowitz of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. The game is scheduled for a December 11 release in Central and South America and will be available in the U.S. “in areas with large Spanish-speaking populations.” It will feature three Spanish songs on the soundtrack and the voice of Alvaro Martin, the “first Spanish-language broadcaster" for "MNF." EA Tiburon Marketing Dir Tom Goedde said, “Madden sells in the neighborhood of 8 million units, and when we get to that level, we start to look at other opportunities to expand” (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 10/17).
