In Dallas, Barry Horn writes Cowboys-Bills last night gave the “MNF” announce crew of Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser a “bizarre game and they let it breathe,” as they primarily “let the game do the talking.” Horn: “If they seemed to push the Bills throughout, that wasn’t anti-Cowboys sentiment. They were rooting for the underdog” (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 10/9)....In Illinois, Tim Cronin writes of NBC's Al Michaels-John Madden “Sunday Night Football” announce team, “Michaels is smart enough to yield to Madden’s expertise all the way through the game, filling in the background while not calling the play, but giving Madden all the room necessary to explain the whys and wherefores of the action.” Dir Drew Esocoff has “more replay units that any other football director but doesn’t seem to be overwhelmed by the bounty” (DAILY SOUTHTOWN, 10/9).
NOTES: The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and Speed TV have signed a three-year rights extension. The net will air seven ALMS races next year in both the U.S. and Canada (Speed)....In Charlotte, Jeff Elder noted high school athletes can upload videos and information about themselves at PrepChamps.com, which he called “ESPN meets YouTube meets MySpace” (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 10/8).
