Red Wings Offer Less Expensive Luxury Seating Option
Published October 9, 2007
Ilitch Holdings execs yesterday unveiled the Comerica Bank Legends Club at Joe Louis Arena, a new "semi-private seating -- in an open air box" that allows "small businesses and individuals [to] buy single tickets and enjoy the luxurious amenities of corporate boxes," according to Nathan Hurst of the DETROIT NEWS. The Legends Club can accommodate 115 fans, and each seat costs $6,500 for the season, compared to the $125,000 private corporate box price tag. The price includes a buffet style meal and non-alcoholic beverages. Ilitch Holdings VP/Corporate Communications Karen Cullen said that "about 60 of the seats already have been sold for this year." Red Wings Senior Dir of Communications John Hahn said the new seating is "a new niche market that's been very successful at other venues. Not every business can afford a full box, nor do they necessarily want the responsibility of hosting guests in their box every night." Hahn said that the Legends Club "was based on a similar offering" at neighboring Comerica Park that debuted in '06 (DETROIT NEWS, 10/9).
