Springs Cleaning? USOC Weighing Offers to Relocate HQs
Published October 5, 2007
The USOC “is weighing offers” to move its HQs and Olympic Training Center out of Colorado Springs, where it has been for nearly 30 years, according to Laden & Gomez of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. USOC Chief Communications Officer Darryl Seibel said, "We are evaluating several different proposals regarding a possible headquarters for the USOC. I'm not at liberty to share with you from which communities. I can confirm for you that one of those proposals is from Colorado Springs, and as of today, no decision has been made." Colorado Springs officials acknowledged Thursday that they have “held months of behind-the-scenes talks with the USOC about finding new offices to replace its aging, cramped facilities.” Colorado Springs City Council members Thursday said that the USOC wants the city "to submit a proposal by mid-October that would commit the city to lead an effort to find new space” (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 10/5).
