NESN analyst JERRY REMY won "a convincing victory" in the President of Red Sox Nation election, which tallied more than 70,000 votes in the four-day voting window (MLB.com, 10/3).... Native Omaha Days event promoter DAVE CHAMBERS and his HYB Entertainment Group filed a lawsuit against Nuggets G ALLEN IVERSON and one of his managers after Iverson failed to make a scheduled appearance on August 4. The suit is asking for a refunded $10,000 deposit and $33,000 in "special damages" (OMAHA WORLD-HERALD, 10/3).

IN MEMORY: Former Tacoma News Tribune sports editor TED PEARSON died Monday at the age of 67. Pearson worked at the News Tribune from '71 until he retired in '99 (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 10/4).
