Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment is launching a naming-rights division to secure sponsors for sports and entertainment venues. The new venture, which has yet to launch, will announce its name and a client roster within 30 days (THE DAILY).

NATIONAL PARK: The DCSEC, which has oversight on RFK parking lots, has offered to provide 1,000 spaces near RFK for free, while “charging the team $5 a space for 2,500 additional spaces.” The team has argued against the $5 fee because it "likely already will incur costs by operating [a] shuttle service” from the lots to its new ballpark (WASHINGTON TIMES, 10/4).

NOTES: Augusta National Golf Club has added 2,000 seats to the par-3 16th hole.  The new seats will allow views of the No. 6 green, the second shot and putts on No. 15, the green at No. 16 and the tee shot and approach at No. 17 (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 10/3)....Notre Dame plans to begin a $26.3M renovation of the Joyce Center next September, which will include installing chair-back seating. The arena is expected to re-open by mid-October ’09, with the work expected to be completed by January 2010 (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 10/4)....North Carolina-based exec Andy Hillenburg bought North Carolina Speedway and support buildings for $4.4M, including taxes and fees, and “promised a major racing event in 2008, the track’s first since NASCAR abandoned it in 2004.” Hillenburg hinted, “I can’t tell you what series it will be, because I’m a former ARCA champion” (ESPN.com, 10/3).
