Yankees Showroom To Demo Suites, Seats For New Ballpark
Published October 1, 2007
The Yankees recently signed a lease at 45 Rockefeller Plaza in midtown Manhattan for a “showroom of luxury suites” for their new 51,000-seat ballpark, according to Charles Bagli of the N.Y. TIMES. The showroom will begin giving potential buyers tours of “plush models” of 57 suites in January, as well as letting them “test the wider, more thickly-cushioned premium seats.” Around 5,000-10,000 of the premium seats are planned for the new park. Suites at Yankee Stadium currently cost about $265,000, with some as high as $350,000, but club officials said that they “had not yet priced the seats and suites in the new stadium” (N.Y. TIMES, 9/29). When asked about a date for seat sales to begin, Yankees President Randy Levine said, “We’ll have an announcement soon” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/29).
