Intersport To Co-Produce Sports Celebrity Special For ABC
Published September 7, 2007
Chicago-based Intersport Media Group in December will co-produce a one-hour special, “Holiday With the Stars,” for ABC, which will “put a special focus on athletes and the celebrities who marry them ... and bring with it an arsenal of integrated-marketing partners from its other venture, CelebTV.com,” according to Andrew Hampp of AD AGE. The gossip site has three “major marketing partners” in McDonald's, Geico and Alberto-Culver hair care products, but the company is “still seeking new partners for the forthcoming ABC special.” Intersport President & CEO Charlie Besser said of the special, “We realized if we could do football, basketball and golf, why couldn’t we do music and entertainment?” Besser has hired two senior execs from “Entertainment Tonight” and CelebTV VP/Business Development & GM Dana Golden, an ad sales exec, who previously worked for ESPN and NFL Network (ADAGE.com, 9/6).
