Tigers Will Shatter Previous Attendance Record This Season
Published September 7, 2007
The Tigers for the first time in their history will draw three million fans in a single season, and “are expected to be one of nine teams” to reach that mark this season, joining the Yankees, Angels, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Cardinals and Giants, according to Lynn Henning of the DETROIT NEWS. The Tigers will draw approximately 3.1 million fans, a number that will “shatter by about a half-million customers their previous Comerica Park record set last year.” The Tiger Stadium record is 2.7 million fans in ’84. The Tigers sold 19,000 season tickets this season, up from 9,500 last season (DETROIT NEWS, 9/7).
