NHL Franchise Notes: Penguins Players Make House Calls
Published September 7, 2007
Penguins C Sidney Crosby, C Evgeni Malkin, RW Colby Armstrong, C Maxime Talbot, D Ryan Whitney and G Marc-Andre Fleury delivered boxes with season tickets, a DVD, a pocket schedule and other items to 24 randomly selected full- and half-season ticket holders on Thursday. The idea came after an “extraordinary offseason for ticket sales” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 9/7). The players wore their new Reebok jerseys. Crosby, who drove his own car to the four homes he was assigned, “didn’t just drop off the tickets and leave” (Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 9/7)....In N.Y., John Dellapina reports the Rangers, who signed high profile free agent Cs Scott Gomez and Chris Drury this offseason, have “only about 350 seats available” per game for the ’07-08 season. Season-ticket holders have renewed at a 96.2% rate. Rangers Senior VP/Team Sales Brian Lafemina: “It’s unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/7)....The Red Wings will make $9 seats available this season. The tickets, which are limited to two per customer, will be released on a monthly basis and can only be purchased at the Joe Louis Arena box office (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 9/7).
