Blog Hound: Mickelson Skips Out On BWM Championship
Published September 6, 2007
FedEx Cup points leader Phil Mickelson, after beating Tiger Woods at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday, withdrew from this week's BMW Championship after criticizing PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem for not taking unspecified suggestions regarding the Cup.

“Now that he has gone mano-a-mano with Woods and finally lived to tell about it, perhaps Mickelson feels he deserves the same kind of deference from Finchem that Woods habitually receives by default.”
Waggle Room Posted by: courtgolf
“Make your suggestions in private or to the players committee. The media is the cowards way out and this behavior is nothing BUT childish petulance.”

“Skipping these tournaments hurts those sponsors and the tour as a whole, but both Woods and Mickelson have shown over the years that they really don't care about much of anybody but themselves.”

“Are you taking the week off to show up Finchem? Or do you really need to be with your family? You can’t have it both ways.”
Gamblers Palace Posted by: mikegp
“For the ones of us that know how tough East Lake is for the Tour Championship I think that we can’t really blame him for wanting to rest a little."
