The NFL season kicks off tonight with Saints-Colts on NBC, and THE DAILY offers a special two-day season preview. As the league looks to put an ugly offseason behind it and put the focus back on the field, Commissioner Roger Goodell speaks with HBO and ESPN about the NFL's image and his management style, and he's also named as the most influential figure in pro football by our sister publication SportsBusiness Journal. On the facility front, the Giants and Jets have broken ground on their new $1.3B stadium at the Meadowlands, and Santa Clara Mayor Patricia Mahan defends her city's bid for the 49ers. Additionally, the Jaguars are facing revenue and ticket sales issues, and the Falcons obviously have their own set of challenges this season. Also in today's issue, we speak with venerable football journalists Peter King and Adam Schefter, present a full list of league sponsors, examine the marketing activity around some of the league's most marketable stars, list all of the NFL's media rights deals, peek at some of the books by NFL personalities that are on shelves now and catch up with former Broncos K Rich Karlis, who now serves in as Dir of Corporate Sponsorships & Events for Qwest.
