Mark Cuban Enters MMA Ring With HDNet Deal
Published September 12, 2007
Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban’s HDNet will begin airing MMA bouts in a series entitled, “HDNet Fights" (HDNet). The first event in the series will be held October 13 at the American Airlines Center, where the Mavericks play. Cuban: “I was a casual fan, but over the last 18 months, I’ve really gotten into MMA. HDNet was the reason I started watching. I … got hooked.” In addition to hiring MMA "talent guru" Guy Metzger, an MMA fighter, Cuban "has visions of owning a stable of fighters” (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/12).
