Candidates For Big 12 Commissioner Interviewed This week
Published August 30, 2007
At least four candidates to replace Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg have been interviewed this week, and the executive committee is in charge of “cutting the list down to two finalists,” according to Chip Brown of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The interviews included Mid-American Commissioner Rick Chryst; Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky; Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Wright Waters; and Big 12 interim Commissioner Dan Beebe. Two sources said that the committee also interviewed “a candidate from outside of college athletics.” Banowsky, who interviewed Tuesday, said that he has “withdrawn his name from consideration." Sources said that the two finalists would interview again next week with the full Big 12 BOD, composed of presidents and chancellors from each school in the conference (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/30).
