Jeter, Bruschi And Others Appear On “Inside The PGA Tour”
Published August 23, 2007
The PGA Tour is taking its new FedEx Cup playoff concept to four markets familiar with postseason success in other sports, and tapping local stars to appear on Golf Channel's “Inside The PGA Tour” tournament preview show that airs each Tuesday at 7:30pm ET. The athletes, who were not compensated, host three or four segments during the show and share their experiences with the postseason. "We wanted to get icons from those cities synonymous with champions in those cities to share talk about the playoff experience," said Bruce Kauffman, Senior Dir of Production & Operations for PGA Tour Productions, which produces the show.
FEATURED PLAYERS: The Barclays is at Westchester Country Club in New York this week, and Yankees SS Derek Jeter hosted Tuesday's episode. Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi will host next week ahead of the Deutsche Bank Championship near Boston, and Bears LB Brian Urlacher will host during the week of the BMW Championship outside of Chicago. Braves P John Smoltz and Hawks HOFer Dominique Wilkins will take their turn when the show rolls into Atlanta for the Tour Championship, where the inaugural FedEx Cup winner will be crowned. The theme continues at PGATour.com, where a number of other champion athletes like Jim McMahon, Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, Trent Dilfer and Grant Fuhr offer playoff testimonials. Each filmed comments during the Celebrity Classic in Lake Tahoe last month.
