NBA TV Offers Staff Buyouts Ahead of Operational Transition
Published August 20, 2007
The NBA has offered buyouts to 68 NBA TV employees “as it prepares for an unidentified media company to assume operations” of the network, according to Sessa & Soshnick of BLOOMBERG NEWS. NBA Senior VP/Marketing Communications Mike Bass, who did not identify the new media partner, said the league's entertainment division offered producers buyouts “in preparation of the transition of the operation of NBA TV to an outside media partner.” Neither Turner Sports nor ABC/ESPN, both of which hold media rights to NBA games, would comment (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 8/17).
