Two leagues experienced different news this weekend when it came to the gambling issues confronting them. For the NBA, the situation could get worse before it gets better, as former referee Tim Donaghy will reportedly reveal to federal prosecutors the gambling activities of up to 20 league refs. For the NHL, the news is more positive, as Rick Tocchet was given two years probation for his role in an illegal sports gambling ring, a sentence that puts to rest concerns of a larger NHL gambling scandal.
