US Airways To Unveil Jet With NFL Panthers Logo, Colors
Published August 14, 2007
US Airways plans to unveil a jet featuring the logo and colors of the NFL Panthers on September 21 at Charlotte-Douglas Int’l Airport, according to Jefferson George of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. US Air spokesperson Phil Gee said that in exchange for putting the team's brand on the plane, the airline gets ads inside Bank of America Stadium, "similar to its deal with the [NFL] Cardinals.” George notes the airline also has an Eagles-branded plane, and will unveil a Steelers plane next month. Charlotte, Phoenix and Philadelphia are US Airways hubs, while former hub Pittsburgh “remains a focus city for the carrier.” Gee: “We do it for the employees, but it's kind of cool to do it for the cities, too" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/14).
