Names & Faces: Jerry Jones An Ad Veteran
Published August 14, 2007
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones is appearing in a Papa John’s ad, where he break dances in the locker room in front of the players and a Papa John’s delivery guy. NFL Network’s Adam Schefter: “It took Jerry Jones two days to film that commercial, nine hours inside the Cowboys locker room; and look, he’s experienced at this sort of thing. He’s filmed two other Papa John’s commercials in the past” (“NFL Total Access,” 8/13).
RISING SUN: Suns G Steve Nash appeared on CNBC’s “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch,” and Deutsch told Nash he is “under-marketed by your own choice” in terms of endorsements. Nash: “Up until this point, I’ve been very selective, and a part of it was just a philosophical position where I wasn’t sure I wanted to be out there in that arena.” Nash added he is now “much more open and philosophically stable as far as myself as a brand, and I’m looking forward to capitalizing on that for my foundation primarily, but also for myself” (“The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch,” CNBC, 8/13).
PICTURE PERFECT: Canon will unveil a new campaign for its PowerShot digital camera featuring Maria Sharapova coinciding with the start of the U.S. Open later this month. The official launch for the product will occur in N.Y. on August 27-28 featuring commentators Mary Joe Fernandez and Patrick McEnroe and “ten Maria Sharapova look-alikes” (BRANDWEEK.com, 8/10).
