Titans Receive Restraining Order Keeping Pacman From Wrestling
Published August 13, 2007
Suspended Titans CB Pacman Jones appeared on TNA Wrestling’s “Hard Justice” PPV last night, but he “didn’t appear to do anything to violate his contract with the Titans,” according to Jim Wyatt (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/13). Yesterday, Wyatt reported the team received a “modified restraining order” against Jones from a Williamson (TN) County judge, stating Jones could not wrestle or “be involved in physical contact” for TNA. Jones’ attorney Worrick Robinson said, “A lot of people want to assume that the Titans don’t care about him. It is just the opposite, they do. It was said several times, ‘We want Adam Jones back on the field.’ That was very clear. And I told him that, and he took that to heart.” Titans Exec VP & COO Steve Underwood said, “Our concern was always protecting our legitimate interest under the contract, and that is avoiding any risk of significant injury to him. As long as that interest is protected, we are comfortable with whatever his level of participation is.” Jones is not being paid by the club while he is suspended (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/12).
MUST SEE TV: Jones will appear on HBO’s “Real Sports” tomorrow, and in N.Y., Bob Raissman wrote Bryant Gumbel “took the gloves off” during the interview. Raissman: “NFL [Commissioner] Roger Goodell & Co. may want to check this spot out” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 8/12).
