New Dot-Com Aims To Be Top Social Networking Site For Sports Fans
Published August 3, 2007
Toronto-based LoveOfSports.com (LOS) launched this week with the “lofty goal of becoming the leading social networking site for sports participants and enthusiasts,” according to William Houston of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. LOS was created by former MLSE broadcasting sales exec Bob Doherty, and the company’s partners include U.S.-based marketing and management services company General Sports & Entertainment; former Reebok exec Dennis Watson and broadcaster John Bassett. Doherty said, "I'm confident we will be the Facebook or MySpace of sports." Houston notes LOS is involved in social networking and partner searches, “but its main objective is to bring people together who have a common interest in a particular sport” (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 8/3).
