In a Q&A with SI.com's Richard Deitsch, Dan Patrick said he has “talked to [NBC Universal Sports & Olympics Chair] Dick Ebersol about covering the Olympics" next summer. Patrick: "[Ebersol] said, ‘Do you want to go to Beijing? ... I don’t know what you’ll do, but I’ll find a spot for you.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d like to.’” Patrick cannot appear on TV during the NFL season as part of his departure from ESPN (SI.com, 8/2).

You’re not going to see that on any telecast” (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 8/3).
BOLT OF ACTIVITY: ESPN Radio 710 L.A. will broadcast 12 Chargers regular-season games this year, with Josh Lewin serving as play-by-play announcer, Hank Bauer as analyst and Jim Laslavic as sideline reporter for home games.
