Blog Hound: Predators Near Sale To Group In Nashville
Published August 3, 2007
With Craig Leipold reaching a letter of intent to sell the Predators to a group that includes William Del Biaggio, bloggers are speculating on what the news means for the future of the franchise in Nashville.

“Not every city that has a professional sports franchise at risk receives a second chance to show its support. In my opinion, the Preds are a great community member, an excellent entertainment option and a source of pride for the city.”
Living, loving, learning … Posted by: aredden
“It sounds fine and dandy, but … that Del Biaggio is the guy who wants to move the team to Kansas City. At this point, I am having a hard time getting excited or even interested in anything Predators related.”
The Puck Stops Here
“I think the Nashville Predators are a 'dead franchise walking' that got a temporary reprieve from this offer.”
Bleed Teal Posted by: Gautham Ganesan
"It makes sense to raise the question 'What's next?' in regards to the team's future in Nashville.”
Two for Elbowing Posted by: chucqui
“The new ownership also has to step up to fund losses for a few years while they try to ramp up revenues -- and the region has to step up and generate those revenues. If the new ownership simply tries to minimize losses, they're only delaying the inevitable.”
BUILDING THE BUZZ: Sports Media Challenge's Sports Blog Index attempted to answer the question, will the Predators stay in Nashville? A very slight majority of bloggers believe that the team will stay for the long term, though a greater number believe that the Predators will stay for at least the next two years before moving. - Many bloggers appear moved by the recent show of support by fans and their efforts to keep the Predators in Nashville, but question whether the support can translate into revenue.
- Some bloggers are propagating rumors that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has been attempting to manipulate the sale to keep the team from moving to Canada, which would result in more direct financial benefit for the NHL.
- While K.C. has been rumored as a likely destination for the Predators, many bloggers predict that city would present the same problems as Nashville.
