Reebok, NHL To Open New Flagship Store In N.Y. In October
Published July 25, 2007
Reebok and the NHL will launch a new flagship store in N.Y. in October, according to Donna Goodison of the BOSTON HERALD. The store, called “NHL Powered by Reebok,” will have 3,750 square feet of retail space and sell NHL-licensed clothing, headwear, accessories and equipment, as well as Rbk footwear and clothing. A “floating hockey stick sculpture made of over 400 Rbk sticks and interlaced with flat-panel monitors will hang over the cashier’s desk” and a wall made of real ice will “serve as a backdrop for store merchandise.” A hockey-themed Starbucks will be located at the rear of the store and XM Satellite Radio plans to build an in-store studio for live broadcasts on its NHL Home Ice station. The Stanley Cup will also be on display in the store at different points during the year. Reebok is “in discussions with retail partners about the possibility of opening other NHL Powered by Reebok stores in Canada” (BOSTON HERALD, 7/25).
