    In a time of crisis, all eyes rest on leaders. And the story from yesterday’s NBA press conference was the tone and comportment of David Stern. The reviews on Stern’s appearance are mixed: the “normally self-assured commissioner was grim in tone and appearance;” Stern “had the body language of a man defeated;” and he seemed “at a loss for precisely the right words.” Others say Stern offered a “mix of humility and candor” and put on a “good, somber show.” But one theme is the lack of control the normally control-centric Stern has in this situation.
