The Univ. of California-Berkeley Board of Regents agreed that KAREN MOE HUMPHREYS, a former Olympic Gold Medal-winning swimmer who became a coach and administrator at the school, will receive more than $3.5M to settle a gender discrimination lawsuit.  Humphreys alleged that she was laid off in ’04 “in retaliation for complaining about the treatment of women by the university’s athletic department” (L.A. TIMES, 7/20).
