Garber In Talks With Group About
Placing Team In Philadelphia
A group of investors is “interested in building” a $100M MLS stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania, according to Susan Snyder of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER.  Sources said that the group has been “working on the project for two years and hopes to have a meeting soon” with Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, MLS Commissioner Don Garber and “key legislators to talk about securing some public funding.”  MLS “confirmed that it was in negotiations with the group, with ‘no specific timetable’ for a conclusion”  (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 7/20).   Delaware County (PA) Council Chair Andrew Reilly said that talks with potential investors have “advanced to ‘in-depth’ negotiations that include stadium design and financing.”  Reilly: “It still has a long way to go, but it’s a real possibility” (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/20).
