Marc Ganis Aggressively Expanding SportsCorp Into China
Published July 17, 2007
SportsCorp President MARC GANIS has “branched aggressively into China," and the consultancy has ten employees in the country, compared to seven in the U.S., according to Daniel Kaplan of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Ganis has “moved beyond traditional sponsorship advice into investing with wealthy U.S. sports team owners in the hot Chinese [IPO] market,” including Rockets Owner LESLIE ALEXANDER on his acquisition of a stake in Anta Sports Products. SportsCorp has advised a total of six U.S. sports team owners on IPOs, and Ganis said that “a seventh is brewing.” Ganis also counts USA Basketball, the Yankees and the Cavaliers among his clients. KEN HUANG is Ganis’ China-based partner, and SportsCorp has teamed with ad agency Womei Beijing (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/16 issue).
