EA, Jostens Marketing Pricey Super Bowl-Like Rings To Gamers
Published July 17, 2007
EA Sports and Jostens, the company that created 27 out of the 41 Super Bowl championship rings, are marketing rings to players of "Madden NFL 08." The rings will sell beginning August 14 for $149-495. Once a gamer reaches the third of five levels in the game, he or she can purchase a ring on Jostens' Web site using a code provided within the game. The NFL's 32 team logos can be incorporated into the rings, and the tops and sides of the rings can also be customized (EA Sports). In Orlando, Etan Horowitz noted the rings will be available in real gold and silver. Each ring has a cubic zirconia, but players can add diamonds, which would increase the price to over $1,000 (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 7/16).
