Falcons' Web Site Relaunch Precedes NFL.com Redesign
Published July 13, 2007
The Falcons earlier this month launched a dramatically reworked Web site, a move that precedes the NFL.com redesign set to arrive next month. In the works since '05, the new AtlantaFalcons.com features a 16-by-9 widescreen orientation, a heavy emphasis on user-generated content and community elements, and a rebuilt tag-based system of organizing content that will aid in user searches and allow for sponsorship sales against certain popular search terms similar to how Google, Yahoo and other portals sell against their search engines. The club spent $350,000 on the effort, including maintenance fees, enlisting the aid of San Diego-based Web development agency Digitaria. Falcons Dir of New Media Dan Levak said, "We all see technological convergence coming down the path, and quickly, and this is a Web site we see ultimately being seen and consumed on 50-inch plasmas in our fans' living rooms."
