SMG Names Alan Freeman GM For Superdome, New Orleans Arena

SMG has named 28-year industry veteran Alan Freeman GM for the Louisiana Superdome and New Orleans Arena, said SMG Regional VP DOUG Thornton.  Freeman has operated two arenas that previously housed NBA tenants, the Compaq Center in Houston and the Pyramid in Memphis.  He has been GM for the last two years at the RiverCenter in Baton Rouge, a small SMG-managed complex that housed hundreds of Hurricane Katrina evacuees in '05.  Freeman starts his new job August 6. He replaces Glenn Menard, who resigned in February and moved to Atlanta to become a consultant.  Thornton had temporarily assumed those duties in addition to overseeing the post-Katrina restoration of the dome and the arena.
