Wheels & Deals: Bass Pro Shops Re-Ups With Truex
Published July 12, 2007
Bass Pro Shops has signed a three-year extension to continue as primary sponsor of the Dale Earnhardt Inc. No. 1 Nextel Cup Chevrolet and driver Martin Truex Jr. through the 2010 season (DEI)....Morgan-McClure Motorsports released five employees “as it searches for ways to cut costs because of a lack of adequate sponsorship.” The team fields Ward Burton’s No. 4 Nextel Cup Chevrolet, which has failed to qualify in 10 of 18 races this years. State Water Heaters is the team’s primary sponsor for 12 races, but a co-sponsor has not been found (SCENEDAILY.com, 7/11)....Old Spice, which sponsors Tony Stewart’s No. 33 Busch Series Chevrolet, is promoting a new line of NASCAR Collector Series High Endurance deodorant and body wash by putting its logos in the armpits of his fire suit for Saturday’s USG Durock 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. The suit will be auctioned off at the end of the season to benefit Stewart's charitable foundation (Mult., 7/11).
