Donald Trump has purchased the Running Horse Golf & Country Club in Fresno, California, for $40M. Trump said that he was "drawn to the property because it was slated to host" a PGA Tour event next year. Trump plans to build 800 homes around the golf course and said that he “has his eye on improving a down-and-out area of southwest Fresno for a mile on all sides of Running Horse” (L.A. TIMES, 6/28).
NFL STADIUMS: The Browns have partnered with Levy Restaurants to provide catering to premium seating areas. The team has also created “The Family Zone,” a newly designated seating area in section 542 and 543 of Cleveland Browns Stadium, which will be alcohol-free and feature mascots and kids’ meals (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 6/27)....In Green Bay, Sara Boyd reported the Packers are adding a 2½-foot-high concrete barrier encircling the Lambeau Field wall about 100 feet out from the Miller Brewing Company Gate around to the west side of the stadium. Packers Chair & CEO Bob Harlan said that the project “stems from a requirement from the [NFL] to boost security on game days.” The Green Bay-Brown County Pro Football Stadium District’s capital improvement fund will pay for the $1M project (PRESS-GAZETTE, 6/27).
LAS VEGAS: In Las Vegas, David McGrath Schwartz reported the public will not be allowed to see competing arena proposals before the Las Vegas City Council chooses a developer. Las Vegas City Manager Doug Selby said, “If we start disclosing everything prior to the selection process, it could compromise the selection process.” He also “pointed to a history of being second-guessed about deals the city has made, particularly by reporters.” Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said, “The public doesn’t need to worry. … Trust us” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 6/27).
