Reality TV Series Planned Around Mixed Martial Arts
Published June 25, 2007
Reality TV producer Mark Burnett’s production unit has teamed with mixed martial arts (MMA) company ProElite Inc. “to develop a primetime reality series involving the combat sport,” according to Andreeva & Nordyke of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. ProElite, which produces pro MMA events through its EliteXC division, disclosed the agreement in a filing this month with the SEC. The deal calls for Mark Burnett Prods. to produce the potential series, “whose contestants would be signed by ProElite.” The companies would “pursue Internet extensions on ProElite's Web sites and would share revenue from their joint endeavors, including [PPV] events” (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/25).
