DENIED: In N.Y., Tyler Kepner notes ten Yankees players yesterday used pink bats as part of MLB’s breast cancer awareness initiative on Mother’s Day, but the league was “not so receptive to [P] Mike Myers, informing him through the Yankees’ front office that he would not be allowed to use the pink glove he had specially made for the day.” Myers was told that pitchers “could not wear a glove with a color that might distract the hitter” (N.Y. TIMES, 5/14). While most Mets players wore pink wristbands, pitchers “couldn’t because they could have been a distraction to batters” (Anthony Rieber, NEWSDAY, 5/14).
