ON CAMPUS: The NCAA has approved a rule preventing players from attending prep schools for a year “to correct deficiencies in their academic transcripts following four years of high school.” The new rule states players can take just one additional core course at any high school recognized by the NCAA to achieve eligibility. The rule addresses the growing number of “diploma mills” (WASHINGTON POST, 5/2)....Penn State Univ. hired COQUESE WASHINGTON as women’s basketball coach Monday, making her the fourth African-American woman to fill one of the 18 head coaching vacancies this offseason, a hiring rate of over 20% (AP, 5/2).
