ACC Leading Conferences In Revenue Generated For FY ’05-06

The ACC’s revenue increased 35% to $148.9M during FY ’05-06, moving the conference ahead of the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12, according to Chris Baysden of the TRIANGLE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Numbers for the Pac-10 and Big East are not yet available. The ACC also recorded an excess of $4.3M. The seven-year football TV rights deal with ABC/ESPN worth more than $250M “poured $35.8[M] into the ACC’s coffers in 2005-06.” Prior to the ACC’s expansion from nine to 12 teams, which was completed in ’05, the conference’s football deal was worth about $23M a year. Before expansion, the league’s revenue for the FY ended June 30, 2004, was $110.6M. The payout to each school will remain the “same as it was prior to expansion.” The following presents the ’05 revenue for the six major conferences, with comparisons to ’04 and ’03.
