Turnstile Tracker: Final Minor League Hockey Attendance

The UHL, which is considered the “Double-A” level of minor league hockey, saw the greatest increase in attendance among leagues this season, up 11.8% from last season. The AHL Hershey Bears led all minor league hockey teams in total attendance, bringing in 346,842 fans over 40 games, while the CHL Oklahoma City Blazers had the best average attendance, 8,902 fans per game for 32 games at the Ford Center. The following presents attendance figures for “Triple-A” and “Double-A” minor league hockey for the ’06-07 regular season, with comparisons to ’05-06 (THE DAILY).

NOTES: Average attendance for the ’05-06 AHL season includes the Cleveland Barons, which ceased operations after last season. The CHL average for ’05-06 includes the Ft. Worth Brahmas, which ceased operations for the current season but are to resume play in ’07-08. The CHL average for ’06-07 includes the New Mexico Scorpions, which ceased operations for ’05-06 but returned this season. The ECHL average for ’05-06 includes the Greenville Grrrowl and San Diego Gulls, which ceased operations following last season. The UHL average for ’05-06 includes the Missouri River Otters, Adirondack Frostbite, Danbury Trashers, Motor City Mechanics and Roanoke Valley Vipers, all of which ceased operations after last season, as well as the Richmond RiverDogs, which relocated to become the Chicago Hounds.
