Cicci Shuttering Garage Due To Lack Of Sponsorship

Frank Cicci Racing (FCR) is “shuttered for the immediate future unless a primary sponsor steps up,” according to Mark Aumann of NASCAR.com. FCR withdrew its Busch Series entry for the O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway last week and again for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix Int’l Raceway this weekend. Team Owner Frank Cicci said, “I’ve been trying all year to find sponsorship and have been paying this out of my pocket for the first seven races and just couldn’t go on any more.” He added, “We’re competing against multi-car teams that can offer signage on the rest of their cars, in addition to being the primary on the car they’re trying to sell. In [Nextel Cup], they’ve gone to a limit of four cars per individual owner but in the Busch Series, there’s no restriction and that’s hurt the Busch Series” (NASCAR.com, 4/18).

MONTREAL: The inaugural Busch Series race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on August 4 will be called the NAPA Auto Parts 200. Also, David Reutimann will drive the No. 99 NAPA Toyota Camry in the event (Stock-Car Montreal).
