COURT REPORT: Two Toronto exotic dancers yesterday filed an C$18M lawsuit against Heat G GARY PAYTON, Clippers G SAM CASSELL, former NBAer JASON CAFFEY, the BUCKS and the NBA, “alleging they were physically assaulted after rejecting [the players’] sexual advances” in ’03 when the trio played for the Bucks. The lawsuit, filed by ADRIAN CIMPEAN and his wife, VIDA ASANTE, includes the Bucks and the NBA “for failing to discipline players for their off-court conduct.” The players were acquitted of criminal charges in February (TORONTO SUN, 4/11).
NAMES: NASCAR driver and team Owner MICHAEL WALTRIP was charged with reckless driving and failure to report an accident. Waltrip hit a utility pole early Saturday morning, causing his car to flip on its side. Police found him at his home later that morning. Team officials said that alcohol “was not a factor” and there has been “no backlash from Waltrip’s primary sponsor, NAPA” (ESPN.com, 4/10)....LPGAer ANNIKA SORENSTAM is near completion on The Annika Academy, a 5,400-square-foot golf school located at the Ginn Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, that will charge $1,250-4,000 per day (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/11).... Comedian JEFF FOXWORTHY, the host of Fox’ “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?,” will serve as grand marshal for the Nextel Cup Aaron’s 499 on April 29 (SCENEDAILY.com, 4/10).
