Turner Sports Hires Ripken, Gwynn For MLB Playoff Coverage

Turner Sports has hired Baseball HOFer-elect Cal Ripken, Jr. as an analyst for its MLB postseason coverage on TBS. This October, TBS will carry MLB’s League Division Series exclusively for the first time, as part of a seven-year, $700M deal it signed in July (John Ourand, THE DAILY). TBS has also signed Baseball HOF-elect Tony Gwynn to partner with play-by-play announcer Chip Caray on the net’s No. 1 broadcast team, calling this year’s Division Series and NLCS. Both Gwynn and Ripken are expected to debut July 1 for the net’s MLB All-Star Game coverage (SI.com, 4/4).
