With the NFL cancelling plans for a Patriots-Seahawks preseason game in China this year, Felix Wang, the NFL’s China representative, “denied speculation that the game’s planned venue, the Beijing Worker’s Stadium, currently under renovation for the Olympics, would not have been ready this summer.” He “also contends the rescheduling ‘is not a setback’ — in fact, it could be a blessing in disguise.” Wang: “We need time to develop a stronger fan base” (USA TODAY, 4/5)....GOLF WORLD’s John Antonini cites sources as saying that Mexico “is going to get” a third LPGA event. The tournament, “to be held at Guadalajara CC, Lorena Ochoa’s home course, will be a limited-field event ... and will open the 2008 LPGA season one week after the unofficial Women’s World Cup” (GOLF WORLD, 4/6 issue).
