COMPLAINT BOX: CBS announced all remaining tournament games will air in HD to all regions. In Pittsburgh, Bob Smizik notes Pitt-Wright State on Thursday and Pitt-VCU on Saturday were advertised as being in HD, but the Pittsburgh market “received a standard definition feed.” CBS Sports Senior VP/Programming Mike Aresco, noting Pitt’s games were designated as “constants,” said, “Right now, technology is such that ‘constants’ do not receive high definition.” Smizik notes that even though Pitt was designated as a “constant,” CBS “did leave the game several times for brief periods in the second half” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/20)....In Las Vegas, Bill Taaffe notes CBS did not begin coverage of UNLV-Wisconsin on Sunday until the score was 11-4 because the preceding Tennessee-Virginia game “ran long and the games are too tightly scheduled by CBS. And before getting to UNLV, CBS ran at least one network promo, a commercial and a local station availability before picking up coverage” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 3/20).
