Dolan Addresses Media Portrayal,
Ticket Prices In Q&A

In a Q&A with the N.Y. POST’s Steve Serby, MSG Chair
JAMES DOLAN said of
how he believes he is perceived, “I’m painted in the press as being arrogant ...
and also, though, I get painted as being loyal ... maybe too loyal.” Asked which
criticism is the most unfair, Dolan said, “That I’m callous towards employees,
or fans, or the people I do business with.” Dolan said of his ownership style,
“I’m not a hands-off manager and I’m not as much a hands-on manager. I’m a believer
in process and structure and having a plan and sticking to it.” On not raising
ticket prices if the Knicks or Rangers fail to make the playoffs, Dolan said,
“Inherent in an increase is that the product is worthy of it. Whenever we raise
prices as cable operators, ... we always added in more product. That’s been the
culture of the company. The playoffs are the reward for being a loyal fan. When
the fan doesn’t get that, they feel disappointed. You shouldn’t then tell them
you’re gonna have to pay more to have the same experience.” When asked which owners
he most admires, Dolan mentioned the Mavericks’
